I’ve had two pretty nasty fin injuries, both of which put me out of the water for months.
The first happened going for a backside air. Strong cross-shore winds flipped my board underneath me, and I landed directly on the fins. I ended up needing 12 stitches and spent the next two months recovering on crutches.
When I finally healed enough to surf again, my very first wave back was a late takeoff on a shorebreak closeout. I got completely worked and in the tumble I felt my board hit my foot. When I came up, I had another deep gash, this time right underneath my toes on my other foot! Back to the hospital for more stitches and another two months out of the water.
That was the point I started seriously looking for a solution. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my surfing life worrying about getting sliced open every time I wiped out. Surfco was the only company I could find that really understood the problem and had developed its own solution.
I reached out to David, the founder, and he couldn’t have been more helpful or understanding. He was genuinely sympathetic to what I’d been through and even offered to send me a couple of new fin technologies he was excited for me to try once I recovered.
I now exclusively surf Pro Teck fins. Over the past year alone, I’ve had easily 10+ scenarios where, with my old fins, I would’ve ended up sliced or impaled. Instead, I’ve come out without so much as a scratch, paddled back out, and carried on surfing. That peace of mind is huge. I can’t thank David and the Surfco team enough for making a product that lets me focus on surfing again instead of worrying about getting hurt.
Thank you!!!
